North Macedonia

Women’s rights are still not fully realized in North Macedonia, especially when it comes to rural women’s access to land and agricultural extension services in addition to fundamental social services. There is also little social protection. Rural women’s organizations and civil society groups are emphasizing the necessity of reforms to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of women in rural farming communities. Legal changes in the rural labor market must be backed in order to better the lives of rural women, defend their rights to protest and organize, and promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
